Debenhams SS13 Fabulously British

I was very thrilled when I got invited by Debenhams Indonesia to join them for an exclusive preview of their Spring Summer 2013 collection  with the theme Fabulously British. As you know Debenhams is a department store that curated a  lot of fashionable designer brands in reasonable prices and they have a lot of good collections. The event itself is dedicated to the Designers at Debenhams, an exclusive range of diffusion lines designed by internationally renowned fashion designers; a high-street fashion at a reasonable high-street price, featuring designers such as Betty Jackson. Black, Butterfly by Matthew Williamson, Star by Julien Macdonald, Rocha.John Rocha, J by Jasper Conran, Principles by Ben de Lisi, H! by Henry Holland and /Edition. It also features exclusive collection that can only be found at Debenhams such as Red Herring, Collection, Mantaray, Maine, Bluezoo and many more. The preview was held at the beautiful Orient 8 in Hotel Mulia and there they showcased 4 looks that represent their collection key of Spring Summer 2013.

As you can see in the photo above, those are the look that I said before, let's talk about them one by one. The first look is all about Monochromatic, if you had been paying attention on street style blogs, black and white is everywhere right now. The brands at Debenhams such as H! by Henry Holland and Red Herring mainly focused on black and white stripes for this mono theme and provide strong mono statement for your look. The second one is the look of Eastern Mirage theme, kimono shaped jacket, bold floral prints, and even embroidery are the key pieces for this theme. The floral kimono jacket and the matching trouser above is from Betty Jackson collection, isn't it a beauty? I've been wanting to stock up some matching jacket and trousers to my wardrobe and this could be one of my option. Let's not forget the beautiful oriental floral prints too! Its different from the floral prints that we have seen a lot and its perfect for spring. Oh how I love something that is different than the others. Okay, let's jump to the third one, it is the Kew Garden theme. It is a fresh new twist on the nautical trend, featuring flower prints and updated stripes, it is all about balancing bold prints or color with navy, ivory, or denim. See the look above, floral teamed with denim is just never wrong, don't you think?
The fourth look, my favorite of them all, is the Riviera theme. Taking inspiration from the 50's feel and Italian Riviera, this look I think is the prettiest.  Very lady looking, elegant, has beautiful materials and prints also. I love the crochet detail on the top, it is just sooooo pretty (well, ever since I learn about how fabric is made in my textile class, I have this weird admiration on fabric even more than what I had before!) and the Sicilian deco prints on the knee length skirt is just a perfect match to complete your lady look

The collection is very exciting right? But hold up, I got another great news about Debenhams, The highlight of Fabulously British event itself will take place on Saturday, 20th April 2013 at Senayan City Atrium at 4PM and for the guest starts of the show Debenhams will bring Mr. Nigel Barker, BLAKE  and Joey Mead King!!!!! Nigel Barker is a very famous photographer that, oh come on, you don't even need me to explain who Nigel Barker is. Nigel Barker himself will do a photo shoot for Debenhams Spring Summer 2013 collection, I am super excited (and so does my classmates, they are very hyped when I told them about this).   The host, Joey Mead King, is a model, a very pretty woman with statuesque body and if you are a fan of Asia's Next Top Model, you must have known her. At this event you will see Debenhams latest collections, accompanied by a performance by BLAKE. So, save your date and  come to Senayan City Atrium this Saturday!

New York, Spring It On!

Hello everyone! I'm sure you know that New York Fashion Week just ended and its time for Spring 2013 coveted looks from NYFW post!! I'm gonna get through one by one about my favorite looks from nyfw SS13, here we go!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
I noticed white white white everywhere! White domination is definitely in for SS13. Rag&Bone did an amazing cropped jacket in white leather. I'm so obsessed with white leather because they look clean but so structured and so strong. Cropped jacket is definitely an item to hunt, it could transform your layering to the next level, it doesn't make your layering look too cluttered but still create a big impact on your total look. Jason Wu did an amazing bird cage print, but what attracted me the most was his sheer blazer in white, again, it could take your layering to the next level. I'm so happy to see harnesses at BCBG Max Azria, I love how they made them white and layered them with amazing dresses with asymmetrical hemline!

DO I NEED TO EXPLAIN THIS? Highlight of the NYFW baby its Alexander Wang! He did amazing pieces, like, he teared off dresses and jackets and put them back together using fishing line. The accessories was hmph, okay, but I'm still amazed by the clothing. Ah he's so amazing, creating stiff and structured pieces like that is just like he created pieces based on what I've been looking for. Prabal Gurung this season still didn't beat his SS12 prints, but I was hooked on his cropped jacket (I'm sure this will be a trend!) the shape of the front flap is great, it's a perfect statement piece for layering!

I'm all about statement pieces, so when I saw this skirt from Derek Lam, I just fell in love with it! I love how he styled it with laid back lazy cutting silver sweater, another mix and match Idea! Theysken's Theory never ever disappoints me. He did this top, simple cutting but with very scrunchy-fluffy-I don't know how to call it- materials (DIY alert!! :p) and he did amazing white sheer pieces with perfect cutting, I'm actually very happy to see designers using white sheer materials without making them look "bridal" or something

You may already notice it from the picture, yeah Rodarte is one of my favorites of my favorites of nyfw shows! The structure and the prints reminds me of Mary Katrantzou a bit, but they make them look sporty and very game character-ish. Oh YOU SHOULD see the shoes!!! I'm gonna make a post dedicated exclusively for them, best shoes in SS13 while other designers are doing gladiators which was..............nay

Rebecca Minkoff perfectly creates clean and printed pieces, their fading prints are so beautiful! While designers are mostly using bold and very artsy prints (not that I hate them, I LOVE them!) Rebecca Minkoff separates her design with this fading floral and gradient print. Chic!

Surprise surprise! I'm still kinda shocked that I love J Crew collection, because I thought they only do very casual laid back pieces but then I saw their preview on Bryanboy's instagram. I didn't realize how I'm really into cute vintage prints until I saw this collection. Need to have shirt like that one in the 2nd pic!

I'm not usually a fan of Oscar De La Renta, but I should say he rocked this season! That floral blouse is what I've been looking for! Very structured, statement, loud in its calm color, it's perfect. The fuchsia jacket is so hot! I love patterned embellishment like that and he styled it with turquoise patent, amazing, just like how Ashley and Mary-Kate styled their collection; Elizabeth&James, I love their simple pieces but the way the styled them makes them very chic and stood out. One thing, do you see the gladiator? Ugh my most hated trend in SS13
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Great bottoms from Pierre Balmain and Michael Kors!! That structured peplum short is chic isn't it? I always feel that I have a very big hips, that peplum and structured shorts look good on me (and hide my belly too :p) That grommets yellow leather skirt from Michael Kors is going to replace all the neon bandage skirts that I'm planning to buy, it will kick 'em ass! Very very edgy, and Michael Kors did amazing accessories! (No wonder. He's like the Godfather of accessories). My favorite are his clear hand cuff and the shoes. Here's a new one; Holly Fulton. (yes I know she was in LFW but I just can't help it!) I can't remember exactly why I ended up browsing their SS13 looks, but I loooove their idea putting flowers on plastic fabric. Though I'm not really into the colors and I think they could choose other piece to apply that idea (I think a shift dress is cute, for layering of course!) I'm sure She's gonna be big!
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
The first thing I said when I saw their last dress in detail: "I THOUGHT THEY WERE FLOWERS!" Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez totally mindfucked me with their prints, sorry, but they did! They are super genius! I really have nothing to say more about their collection, oh one, I love the high neck lines. Another amazing prints in SS13 show

Soooo, that's all! I can't wait for Spring Summer 2013! I love the trends! Really. can't. wait.

These are pictures from my trip to Jogja last July with my friends Gladys and Lisa. If you are friends with me on facebook, you probably have seen these pictures with a lot of food pictures that we had there. It was actually a culinary trip. We ate a lot (I seriously mean a lot) and I gained some kgs but it was worth all the foods we put in our mouth! We spent 5 days in Jogja and that was not even enough to explore that little city. This got me thinking that people often want to spend their holiday in another country whereas there are a lot of places in our own country that are so amazing and still unexplored. Even this city Jogja that is, well, you know, very common, people often go there on holidays and I do too, but still, there are a lot of things in this small city to be explored. The greatest finding besides the food was I found the nicest beach there, it was so clean and quiet, a little paradise. Now I understand why people love to go to the beach so much!
I just can't wait to get back there and explore some unique foods! and places! ;)

Went to IKYK "It's Not Small" press launch on Thursday at The Goodsdept. The room was projected by beautiful pictures taken by Albert Judianto that instantly made me want to go on a laid back vacation. As we know, IKYK always use earth tone colors in their collection but in this season, the designer Anandia Putri added a little twist to the collection which is bright colors and prints but still sticks to IKYK's signature; light fabrics and asymmetrical cuts. My eyes went straight to the blue tribal blazer worn by one of the model. When she took off the blazer and held it on her arm and showed her white tee and shorts, it was just so effortless. The other pieces that caught my attention are the super long sleeve top worn by the designer and a boxy military dress. That super long sleeve top reminds me of my childhood when I love to pretend that I lost my hands and the fact that the fabric is very light, I can bet it is super comfortable, perfect for my summer trip! I'm planning to get them online or hopefully at Brightspot. That reminds me, IKYK also launched their website where you can see all their collection and order them right away.
